The Century
During the year 1862 the following interments were made, and fees received, viz.:-
Military 30 à $2.55 = $76.50
Naval 3 à $2.55 = $7.65
Civilians 19 à $2.55 = $48.45
Children 4 à $0.64 = $2.56 and 1 à $1.82 = $1.82, $4.38
Pauper 1 à $0.32 = $0.32
The amount received for the year amounted to $173.46 fully and for monuments; the greater portion of which has since been collected.
The above record exhibits in every way a satisfactory and considerable decrease in total deaths during the year than the previous year, this is entirely amongst the Army, Navy and Merchant Seamen, and such decrease has been steady for several years past.
There is a slight increase amongst Civilians and Police, but this is due to the increased number of those classes.
No definite rate would be of avail
